The National Preschool Curriculum is based on the principles of Rukun Negara and the National Philosophy of Education and aims to develop social skills, intellectual skills, physical skills, spiritual skills and aesthetic values in children. All preschools in Malaysia, whether public or private, are required to follow the National Preschool Curriculum. Majlis Pembangunan Pendidikan Awal Kanak-Kanak Sarawak (MPAKS) or Sarawak Children’s Early Education Development Council is also focusing on registering preschools, both private and public, in the State. Private pre-schools must be registered under the Sarawak Education Department. Private schools and religious organizations also run pre-schools.
